Residential Electric Water Heaters
Vaughn's residential electric water heaters are designed to heat water stored inside the cylindrical storage tank, either HydraStone lined or our Thermoplastic Featherweight. The capacity of our water heaters ranges from 10 gallons up to 119 gallons. Water heaters are available in smaller and much larger capacities, but are usually not required for most residential applications. Our residential water heaters deliver hot water to showers, baths, dishwashers and washing machines.
The main components of residential electric water heaters are:
- Storage tank with a HydraStone or Thermoplastic lining
- Non-CFC foam insulation
- Heating Elements
- Thermostats
- Dip Tube
- Drain Valve
- Cold Water Inlet
- Hot Water Outlet
- Electric Junction Box
In short, electric water heaters work by bringing the cold water inside the tank, heating with the heating elements and then moving hot water from the top of the unit throughout the residence using the the home's plumbing system. Electric water heaters run on electricity and must be completely wired by a professional. Most often, the water heater will require a 240-volt dedicated circuit which services that water heater and no other devices in the home.
